New developments are on the horizon for puzzle enthusiasts with the announcement of a highly anticipated sequel. Developer Pine Studio has introduced Escape Simulator 2, the next installment in the Escape Simulator series. This exciting follow-up is set to launch on PC through Steam and will feature a selection of fresh challenge rooms, crafted either by escape room professionals or community contributors.
The second edition is crafted for 1-8 participants and promises an array of diverse levels to tackle, including a marooned starship, the iconic castle of Count Dracula, and a treasure trove cursed by pirates. There will be a total of 12 intricate puzzle rooms available for solo or group play, all enhanced by a refined physics and interaction system that aims to create a more engaging gameplay experience.
In addition, Escape Simulator 2 will introduce an upgraded version of the Room Editor, featuring an all-new set of tools, an advanced lighting engine, a building constructor, and an animation editor to elevate creative possibilities.
Regarding the game's direction, Pine Studio co-founder Boris Barbir mentioned that the team has drawn inspiration from darker themes, exploring novel gameplay and puzzle mechanics. Significant technological advancements have also been integrated into the sequel, including a newly designed rendering engine, rewritten networking code, improved physics, and more polished animations.
