Game Changers Rising: Empowering Women in Competitive League of Legends

This announcement marks a significant milestone in fostering an inclusive environment for competitive gaming. A new initiative has been unveiled, providing a dedicated space for women to shine in one of the most popular online battle arenas.
Over the past few years, women have benefited from a dedicated platform in the competitive Valorant scene, which was established as part of the Game Changers division within the Valorant Champions Tour. This effort has steadily grown and attracted increasing attention, making it almost unexpected that it took so long for a counterpart to emerge in another major title.
The long-awaited alternative is now on its way with the introduction of the League of Legends Game Changers. The initial phase is planned as the LGC Rising tournament, which is set to occur in August. This event will feature top teams competing first online and then face-to-face at a live grand final scheduled to take place during the Paris Games Week in October.

Due to its status as the inaugural tournament, LGC Rising will have a compact format with a limited number of teams selected by invitation. The selection process includes:
- Three teams, especially those connected with established regional organizations.
- Three additional teams earning their spots based on their performance at the Equal Esports Cup held in Germany.
- Two squads determined through an open qualifier taking place in August.
