Loveless: The Viral Hacker Transforming Exploration Warfare

This article introduces fresh gameplay elements and a character debut in the latest installment by the franchise. With only one week left before the public launch of the new explorer Loveless, Gearbox has released two new trailers highlighting her abilities. One video details her combat skills and showcases how she aims to overcome the Timekeeper’s forces and various adversaries scattered across Kairos, while the other offers a brief insight into her background and hints at why she could be one of the most formidable explorers encountered so far.

Loveless’s backstory reveals that she was once a young girl who had a virus introduced into her system. This infection merged with her consciousness, ultimately transforming her into an explorer known as the Hacker. She is capable of disintegrating a worm-like construct—the virus manifested in a tangible form—and she also has the ability to duplicate herself, vanish from sight, and throw shurikens that spread contagious corrosive damage through groups of enemies.

The trailer vividly displays her three distinctive combat abilities:

  • Summoning the worm construct, which hints at a homage to a previous character’s style;
  • Utilizing cloning and invisibility, an enhanced evolution of earlier tactics;
  • Launching shurikens that discharge a plague-like corrosive effect among clustered foes.

Each skill is demonstrated in the gameplay footage, with the first ability evoking memories of a familiar character from an earlier title, while her cloning and stealth powers appear to refine tactics seen before. Additionally, her shuriken technique is particularly effective in dispersing a widespread corrosive effect among groups, underscoring her potential as a dangerous and versatile explorer.
